What is PTSD?
PTSD may happen after a traumatic event or experience, it’s normal to feel frightened, sad, anxious, and disconnected. If, you are not able to get past the event you may be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD can develop following any event that makes you fear for your safety. So many people still only associate PTSD with military combat. The truth is that any traumatic event, or series of events, that leave someone overwhelmed with feelings of hopelessness and leaves them emotionally shattered, can trigger PTSD, especially if the event feels unpredictable and uncontrollable.
PTSD may affect people who personally experience the traumatic events, those who witness the event, or those who pick up the pieces afterwards, such as emergency workers and law enforcement officers. It can even occur in the friends or family members of those who went through the actual trauma. Seek help asap if you believe you are experiencing PTSD, for treatment, support, and help to developing coping skills, you can learn to manage your symptoms, reduce painful memories, to help move on with your life.
PTSD and Surviving To Survivor
my hope is that my personal blog will help ones that are either surviving with PTSD or ones trying to understand loved ones that are surviving with PTSD. It took me years to understand it myself and I have had many not understand me and what I still go through today.
